FREE CLINIC - GROUNDWORK with PATTERNS & POLES
October 8th 2017 1pm to 5pm TRT facility 6141 Wallace Drive Saanich Victoria Near Butchart Gardens Respect, Obedience, Manners, Trust, Patience, Self Confidence, You and your horse will work together to overcome any barriers to effective communication and begin to work as a team, creating a pathway to success in any direction your partnership may lead you Being able to read horses and teaching them to read you, is one of the greatest skills a horseman can achieve. It tells you what approach you need to take, helps you resolve problems quickly and safely and allows you to make necessary changes in your daily sessions by assessing a negative reaction and turning it into positive learning and understanding. Almost every negative situation can be quietly and efficiently resolved by adjusted toward the positive, without the need to punish your horse, by showing him the right way or by showing him another positive method of attaining the same outcome therefore setting your horse up for success rather than failure. By using your voice as well as body language to help him understand what is expected from him, you both will learn a vocal as well as a physical language, using your voice as a reward to let your horse know when he has responded in the right manner, and as a reprimand, letting him know when he has reacted in the wrong manner. Horses respond to and enjoy vocal praise. They need to know when they are right, as well as wrong. When you are reading your horse, you can see the joy in their expression when they know they have completed a job well. We will also be developing powerful strategies for building confidence and overcoming fear in both the horse and rider, each step progressing to success under saddle. Working with each horse and rider with a goal of soft feel and communication, building a partnership between a confident, perceptive, emphatic rider and a calm, willing, balanced and respectful horse. Soft feel though seat, legs and hands equals mutual communication and a soft happy horse What we will be doing: *Strengthen your relationship & allow for a positive working partnership *Give your horse “purpose” and a sense of achievement *Teach to increase and decrease stride *Give rider purpose and allow for setting and obtaining daily and long term goals *Learn and teach to adjust to changing situations *Learn to control every part of your horse’s body individually and simultaneously *Help your horse to learn to think for himself and to develop problem solving strategies – self confidence |
