Ever wonder - “What’s on a horse trainers mind”?
A horse trainer wakes up in the morning with your horse on our mind, we go to bed with your horse on our mind.
We sort out our own life struggles, our own disappointments, goals, dreams, journeys, bills, rent to pay, making sure our trucks run well, our trailers are safe, whats the next show, with your horse on our mind.
We help sort out your struggles, goals and dreams even if it’s just a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen, with still, your horse on our mind.
We have the drive the passion and the will to fulfill your dreams while at the same time fulfilling ours.
We try to please, sometimes we fail, and we still get through the day with your horse on our mind.
As the hands of time continue people and horses come and go with the wind of change, us horse trainers continue to wake up early, put in long days, sweat, eat dirt, worry, blanket, feed, groom, buy the best tack, return calls, text, schedule lessons, farrier, vet, trying to give our all, with your horse on our mind.
I can speak for myself, I’ve achieved many goals, with many great people and horses on my journey. And it’s been a long long journey. A lifetime journey I wouldn’t have changed.
I have been blessed to have “Your Horse on my Mind.”
Thank you.🌹
The journey continues.
TEXAS ROSE TRAINING
* TRUE HORSEMANSHIP Training For The Mind, Body & Soul
Horsemanship through feel, timing and balance - an ongoing, dynamic philosophy of communicating with horses
All horses need to be gentle. They need to be able to encounter new environments and situations in a relaxed manner. They must be able to move in any direction at any speed in a way that is calm and controllable. They must be comfortable with their tack and what is being asked of them; they must not be troubled either by pain or lack of understanding. They must feel respected as the thinking, feeling, decision-making creature that they are.

"Counter canter with inside flexion helps to open the base of support behind and increase hip mobility"
"The horse seeks contact with the bit first by opening his pole" "Collection exercises help to improve the neck extension by encouraging the reach into contact to come from a lifted spine" RESPECT
If I can get my horse to back up in response to a very light action on his halter, I will diminish his “opposition reflex.” The natural reflex of all horses is instinctively to oppose pressure instead of yielding to it. Having a horse that yields to the slightest demand will allow me to gain respect and safety, increase control and obtain a light, vertical flexion that will prepare my horse for collection and improve his stops. |
"Soft feel. Feel it! A feel following a feel. There is no pressure, physically or emotionally."
“IF I could live a thousand lifetimes I would still never learn as much as I need to know about horses"
`` Everyday I’m learning. Every horse I train and every rider I coach teaches me more.`` “Horse training is patience, and patience is horse training” "What we learn from horses is infinitely more valuable then what we teach them" “Whenever you are within 20 feet of a horse you are teaching him something. It could be positive or it could be negative. Make sure it is always positive.” "Horse training is 90% phycology and knowing when and how to use it. The rest is wet saddle blankets” “Ride the back end of the horse and the front end will follow. Ride back to front” Travelling while collected is difficult and requires a sophisticated level of balance, mental/emotional control, and understanding from the horse. The collected horse has developed the strength to tilt the haunches so the hind legs are far underneath the body, and the front end (head and neck included) is at the highest point. The horse moves in an “uphill” manner.
Collection is achieved primarily by the seat and legs. The hands are the last to act, and ideally, serve to “catch and recycle” the energy produced by the seat and legs. |

TRAINING
Adrianna`s training for her own horses begins with groundwork, specifically Showmanship. All her horses learn Showmanship even if they will never show the class. Adrianna feels that it is an invaluable training tool, teaching patience, obedience, good manners and respect and uses it throughout her training.
Next is longing to learn voice cues and to begin to learn balance, collection and bitting. All the horses learn collection and extension in all gaits as well as learning the jog and lope.
Ground driving is next to further acceptance of the bit, balance, and knowledge of cues before being mounted. Now added are the back up, going over and through obstacles, and basic Dressage moves such as Leg Yield, Half Pass, Shoulder In and Haunches In while being ground driven.
Because of the extensive ground training, the first ride is usually uneventful and Adrianna tries to let the owner have the first ride on his horse.
Adrianna encourages owner participation and likes to have the owner involved in the training through lessons at least once a week.
Adrianna is available for training from start to finish or anywhere in between. She offers training on a month to month basis as well as individual rides or groups of rides to address certain problems or to take a horse through learning a new discipline or to start a young horse or to finish a green horse. Adrianna is also available to show your horse.
Training can take place at your facility or board at a discounted price is available at the Texas Rose Training facility.
